Best Work Boots for Flat Fleet

Flat footedness occurs when the arches of your feet become flat and touch the ground when standing or walking. It’s a fairly common condition and can cause pain and soreness in the feet, especially when standing for long periods of time. That’s why arch support is so important. A slight curve in the middle of the insole can make a world of difference. Here are a few more things to consider if you have flat feet:

Arch Support

First and foremost, your footwear should have that slight arch in the middle of the insole. The angle and depth can vary depending on how much support you need. Unless they were made for flat feet, most footwear don’t come with a significant amount of arch support built in. So you can definitely look into another set of insoles to get the support you need. Superfeet is one brand that makes high quality, supportive orthotics. You might want to check out their Green insoles.

Note: Many  insoles for flat feet are very thick. Just make sure that the insoles that come with your boots are removable, and that there’s enough space for your feet to still fit comfortably after putting in your own.

High Ankle

A boot with a higher ankle provides additional stability that protects you from rolling your ankle and other workplace hazards. The added support takes strain off your arch so you’re more comfortable on your feet for a longer amount of time.

A Solid Sole

While the insole is obviously a key component, what’s going on on the outside is also just as important. A thick, shock absorbing sole minimizes the pain and soreness caused by flat footedness. A good tread will also keep you stable. Both of these features take the pressure off your arches and can eliminate pain when paired with the right insoles.

Wedge sole boots are also a good option because they provide ample support from heel to toe, especially on hard, flat surfaces. The Ever Boots Weldor does just that - because the entire sole makes contact with the ground, the impact from walking gets more evenly distributed and you get more traction compared to a typical raised heel.

Pain caused by flatfooted-ness is a serious issue that you don’t have to live with. The right pair of boots or insoles can alleviate that pain so you’re more comfortable while working and when you get home. If you can minimize the pain now, it will also pay off in the long run.
